Carretica Cuentera 2020 educational tour

The Costa Rica Foundation for Sustainable Development is proud to present the Carretica Cuentera 2020 Educational Tour: Education for Change. This project consists of carrying out workshops in various educational centers of the country during which creativity, imagination, critical thinking, and problem-solving are developed from the use of stories with open endings so that they are girls and children who propose solutions to issues of national and regional interest. Thanks to the support of the Costa Rica Foundation for Sustainable Development, this project will be able to reach around 50 educational centers and more than 7,500 Costa Rican children during 2020.

We extend the invitation to all the schools that are interested in being part of this Educational Tour so that they register their educational center and so they can be taken into account during the selection process.

The Educational Tour 2020-Education for Change, Carretica Cuentera, and the Costa Rica Foundation for Sustainable Development come together to promote participation and critical thinking from childhood on issues related such as violence prevention, equity, take care of the environment and solidarity for the construction of community solutions.

In each educational workshop in the classrooms, a presentation is made to the students, a story with an open end is share so that later on girls and boys, in collaborative and creative work solve the problem exposed in the story line up with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. In each workshop, the educational and free app “Carretica” will also be presented to the teacher and students.

We work for quality education, integrating new technologies, and the necessary skills for the 21st century, such as reading, creative writing, collaboration, critical thinking and generation of original, digital and printed content.

How long does a Carretica Cuentera workshop last?

Each session has a duration of 2 lessons (one hour and fifteen minutes).

What is the maximum number of students per workshop?

Each educational center will serve between 120 and 150 students.

What do they require from the educational center?

Carretica Cuentera will be responsible for bringing all corresponding materials to the workshop

In what space of the school is the workshop held?

The Carretica Cuentera workshops take place in the classrooms or the library of each educational center.

What topics do you address in each workshop?

This educational tour will address issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals, such as prevention of violence, equity, care of the environment, and solidarity for the construction of community solutions.

How Do I Know If My Educational Center Selected For The Tour?

After completing the form on this website, the Carretica Cuentera team and the Costa Rica Foundation for Sustainable Development will select the educational centers during the ten months of the school year. To schedule the date and time of the visit, you will coordinate with the teacher or the responsible teacher. A representative of our team will contact you via telephone to schedule an appointment to the school.

What's the expectation of the Educational Center?

In order to follow up on the lessons learned in the workshop, schools will participate in a quarterly contest. Each educational center will generate a new collective story, competition among students, informative mural at the school, among other creative activities that highlight the continuity of all the learning after Carretica's visit.

What is the dynamic of a workshop?

In each workshop, we show a presentation to the students, a story with an open end is share so that girls and boys, in collaborative work in teams, creatively solve the problem exposed in the story and line up their solution with the Sustainable Development Goals.
